Joint Radar Communication With Novel GCC Preamble and Point-Wise Minimum Fusion

In this paper, a new preamble waveform design and corresponding minimum-point processing algorithm at receiver are proposed to perform radar sensing of communication signal echoes. our design, we consider the millimeter wave (mmWave) 802.11ad/802.11ay frame format as reference. Our replaces second pair single-carrier (SC) Golay complementary code (GCC) used in IEEE by orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) GCC waveform, resulting SC-OFDM waveform. At receiver, point-wise minimum operation is performed on separate ambiguity functions (AF) SC-GCC OFDM-GCC improve overall quality AF. Furthermore, applied fuse data AF AF, so further enhance entire frame. addition, theoretical analysis performance gain such fusion provided. Both simulation results demonstrate that newly provide significant improvement for automotive sensing. Specifically, with improves peak-to-max-sidelobe ratio (PMSR) over conventional preamble. Moreover, preamble-data technique enhances PMSR well Doppler resolution existing joint systems (which process either echo or only). Finally, extended from single-frame multi-frame resolution.
